FIFA07 is UK Christmas No.1  by Craig D at 10:40

So this weeks charts are now out and with just six days to go until Christmas that of course means we now know this years Christmas number one seller. And the winner is FIFA 07.

A jaw dropping win for FIFA 07, beating off the front runner Need for Speed: Carbon, the latest in the Need for Speed franchise, which looked set for a hat-trick of Christmas top spots. This win has left a big hole in Paddy Power’s pockets after a record-breaking number of gamers placed bets on this year’s winner.

Sharon McHugh, Novelties Marketing Manager at Paddy Power said: 'This year’s Christmas video game betting was the most hotly contended ever. Need for Speed: Carbon was the most fancied at the start at 8/13 but it soon drifted for the first year since it began, to 5/6, when it became clear FIFA 07 was going nowhere without a fight! It quickly became a two horse race with both titles going off at 5/6 last week. We thought we were being smart by keeping Need for Speed: Carbon on our side at short odds because we never expected it to be beaten. FIFA 07 was as high as 8/1 at one point. This year we lost an absolute fortune, but on the upside there are a lot of happy Paddy Power customers with an early Christmas bonus!’
