CPL To Create Its Own Competition Shooter  by James B at 16:56

PC
Actiontrip bring news that the CPL (Cyberathlete Professional League) has announced the creation of their very own multi-player FPS, using an id Software engine. Dubbed Severity, we can expect community testing to start towards the end of 2007.

Severity is a multiplayer first person shooter (FPS) focusing on team-versus-team and one-versus-one play modes. Additionally, the game offers unprecedented support for gamers worldwide playing in online and live competitions both casually and professionally.

"Severity will be the first videogame conceived from the ground up to ensure the growth and appeal of multiplayer game competitions worldwide," said Tom Mustaine, Director of Game Development at the CPL’s new studio.

Nice if they could elaborate a bit on "id engine". There are so many improvements made to the Doom 3 engine now. Quake 4 made a good job and it looks like ET made an even better job. Maybe the engine the new Wolfenstein is going to be using...? Apparently there's a lot of new features in that.

Agreed but then again the entire of doom3 was just a pile of smelly dog balls anyway.
