Next Generation is reporting that Nintendo president Satoru Iwata stated that the company is launching an internal investigation into the Wii wrist strap problem. Apparentanly the controller wrist straps have been breaking, causing the controller to fly off. Iwata however seems to think that the problem lies more with the users than the strap itself.

We are investigating. Some people are getting a lot more excited than we'd expected. We need to better communicate to people how to deal with Wii as a new form of entertainment.'
