Wee Bits Of Wii News  by James B at 18:04

Nintendo
Wii PALGN are reporting that Nintendo main man Reggie Fils-Aime has confirmed that Wii Online play will be coming in Q2 2007. Japan will get to enjoy this early with Pokémon Battle Revolution, and multiplayer online titles will be being announced in Q1 2007. I'd personally expect online gaming and the new Smash Brothers game to turn up together.

The console launched in Japan a few days ago and sold out immediately. With 400,000 units to Japan and 600,000 to the US, that's around a million units sold or pre-ordered before it even launches in the EU on Friday. Not bad stuff when you consider that the amount of Playstation 3's available in Japan on launch was around 80,000.
Thanks GamesIndustry.biz.

In related news, Kotaku are reporting that pre-orders in Australia for the Wii are over the 30,00 mark - the previous record for a console launch (held by the Xbox 360).
