ACON Fatal1ty Great Wall Shootout  by Scott H at 23:53

Noticed this snippet of news over at sogamed.

It seems Abit will shortly be releasing a 'Fatal1ty' range of products. I wonder how many pennies hes getting for this one.

Quite a number of sponsors behind this one event, making the prize money a rather nice pot to win.

ABIT, PWX Systems, Intel, ATi, Kingston, Creative, Sina.com.cn and ViewSonic are proud to announce the ACON Fatal1ty Shootout at the Great Wall. With RMB$1,000,000 (US$125,000) in cash being offered as a prize, the ACON Fatal1ty Shootout is the single largest prize ever being offered to a gamer. Held at the Great Wall in Beijing, China, the top 4 DOOM3 players in China will all try to beat the 2004 DOOM3 World Champion, Johnathan 'Fatal1ty' Wendel. These 4 players will also compete to be named the Best DOOM3 Player in China.

The money is as good as mine.

If I was chinese, and could actually play Doom3 DM, id do pretty well out of this competition.

He's one of maybe 10 people on earth who make moeny out of playing games professionally.

Other than beta testers oif course, and they get nothing but late nights and sore eyes.

But instead of deriding the man for it, like some other boards do, I congratulate him. Quite an impressive feat he's managed to achieve.

He is an exception, and also exceptional, I don't think he even got fragged the last time Abit had him at some tournament. I doubt he says 'lal' either.

Pictures of the new fatal1ty motherboard going about today as well :/ not sure of the specs but seems as pointless as the mouse pads he does.
