Xbox 360 HD DVD Player Details  by Craig D at 23:32

XBox
X06 has also seen the release of some extra Xbox 360 HD DVD player details and pricing. £129.99 in the UK isn't too bad, particularly as it comes with a free film and the remote.

Arriving at retailers in North America, the U.K, France and Germany in mid-November 2006, the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player will retail for $199.99 in North America (estimated retail price)* and €199.99/£129.99 (estimated retail price)* in the U.K., France and Germany. The Xbox 360 HD DVD Player comes with the Universal Pictures' blockbuster film Peter Jackson's "King Kong" on HD DVD (for a limited time) and the Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote.

This is very cheap when you think how much stand alone players are selling for in the states, however as in my forum thread i am intrested to find out if it has a hdmi output, as component video cannot cope with 1080p or so I believe.

Yes xbox is going to have a firmware update (november I think) and 1080p will be supported, and I suppose offer a HDMI cable which probably cost half of the HD DVD player but maybe they'll make it cheap

The sooner they release the hdmi cable the better to be honest, surely they must do it in time with the november firmware update as you said. Or there will be no point to the 1080p update. Welcome to the site by the way ig88.

thanx man and I completely agree with you. Just remember that Microsoft doesnt like to compete with the competition, they want to dominate it.

HD-DVDs are about £18 in the UK according to online sites, so I hope this pushes down the cost of normal DVDs even further. Can't see myself using HD for a long time yet.

I can see why people like stan want to upgrade to HD, but for me i just can't be arsed to upgrade all my films again like i did from VHS. DVD quality is going to be good enough for me, forever.

I dont buy DVDs, I just netflix and rent, and Ill buy one every now and then that I really like or for a gift, but once netflix has most movies in HD DVD, it will totally be worth the additional cost. something is always good enough until you see how much better something else is.

Aye the amount hd sucks you into the film compaired to normal is just immense, I wont get all my films again in HD, but the classics I will and things like band of brothers if they are in hd. Oh and into for the blue for ms Jessica Alba
Hi def dvds in the states are between 10 and 20 quid, so it aint like they cost anymore.

From what I have heard the Xbox 360 will only upscale to 1080p so a HDMI cable seems bleak. Oh and update released today (31st November)

I meant October! Damn typos!!! I myself cannot wait for the HD DVD and I wish Amazon would put it on preorder!
