THQ have today announced that Relic's Dawn of War expansion is now gold and will hit store shelves by October 9th, what I hadn't heard before is that it's a 'Hybrid' expansion in that it is also playable standalone, nifty.

"We're delivering the visceral, cutting-edge RTS experience gamers expect from Relic Entertainment, and they will enjoy Dark Crusade whether they're fans of the series or are discovering it for the first time," said Tarrnie Williams, general manager, Relic Entertainment. "By making a hybrid standalone expansion, we've given the first time player plenty of single and multiplayer game-play options while providing a great deal of new content to the experienced Dawn of War veteran."
