EA Games To Feature Dynamic In-Game Ads  by James B at 16:34

PCXBox
EA announced today an agreement with IGA Worldwide Inc., a leading independent in-game advertising network in an effort to allow companies to dynamically advertise products in-game throughout select EA franchises. The dynamic execution allows for in-game advertising elements to be updated and changed in real-time. The first title to feature this will be DICE developed Battlefield 2142.

The initial EA title to incorporate dynamic in-game advertising via IGA is Battlefield 2142TM, developed by DICE in Stockholm, Sweden. Fans of the franchise will see new, realistic brand presence integrated into contextually relevant game environments across the platforms and across the geographies where they play.

Other news seems to be filtering through that Need For Speed: Carbon will be another title to feature dynamic advertising.

Keep on milkin'

I can see this in racing games. But in a futuristic FPS? Hmmm....

The products would have to fit, and if it subsidises the price of the game then maybe it's a win-win?

as long as its not "in your face" then i dont mind, we get ads on every thing else, so why not games, we'll learn to tune it out in time.

Now u see i dont mind subtle advertising i.e ghost recon where even the bill boards were in mexican [the game is set there]. However fight night took it too far by actually having the burger king dude coach you.
If they can make it subtle and not intrude into the gameplay i am all for it. But i cant see that happening if i am honest.

No no no its Strike at McDonalds and Operation Walmart!!!

You will be fighting through the aisles of a run down 100 year old walmart with quality goods still on the shelves.

Ooo Ooo Instead of US Marines vs. Insurgents it would be Mcdonalds employees against burger kings and you would be throwing hamburgers at each other. Would that not be an amazing addition to battlefield?

I doubt this will subsidise the price of the game, its just a way for EA to rake more money in.

Hmm Tv adverts started off being unobtrusive and now look at the state of things. I fear gaming and the internet may one day soon be as bad as all the shitty adverts on TV.

Imaging playing half a level and you have to watch an advert before you can continue and complete it.

That would suck major ass. Since games are so popular I think it's just a matter of time before they're really putting commercials and such in games. I hope too it just won't be in your face.

if its not in your face, like the nivida ads at the start of games, it may make to game more realistic, in stead of haveing "slurp cola" machines you could have pesi ones. but this is just me trying to put a positive spin on it
