Half Life 2, DVD only in the UK?  by Craig D at 12:21

hl2 Just saw this on bluesnews, it originates from this froum post on the Halflife2.net forums.

One of our sources at GAME Stores Group has today confirmed that the standard UK version of Half-Life 2 has been confirmed as DVD only and will not be released on CD. There is no confirmed news regarding the rest of Europe as yet.

I tend to agree, most machiens that don't have DVD drives are far too old and slow to play Half-Life2 anyway. Makes perfect sense from a manufacturing point of view also, dvd's are roughly the same price as cd's these days, so that 1/6th of the cost in duplication.

Think they pass some of that one to the customer? Hell no.

Come to think of it, think we'll pay cimparable prices to the US? No chance.

Your'e only hope of not being ripped off is to buy through steam and hopefully pay in Dollars @ the same rate as our Americam cousins.

You can already buy stuff through Steam, can't you? If so, what are the prices like? Are they in USD?

dvd drives are only like £15 anyway. it's pure laziness if you're without!

I aint got one and I certainly wont be buying one just for HL2.
I have 0 anticipation of this game and as I have said before I will wait till its lingering in a bargain bucket or leech it before I buy it

i know they delayed it for too long but fel, it's gonna be a hell of a lot better then the crap they brought out in doom3
