The Ansari X-Prize Site now shows that Burt Rutan's SpaceShipOne, funded by Microsoft Co-Founder Paul Allen has officially won the 10 Million Dollar X-Prize.

It would seem to me that the X-Prize has served it's purpose in generating commercial, private interest in space flight, probably no better indicator of this is last months announcment by Richard Branson that 'Virgin Galactic' will soon be taking paying customers to the edge of space.
