Hi-Def DVD war will end in a stalemate  by James B at 14:18

PCXBoxPlaystation
The BBC have an interesting little article up which discusses how a research firm has predicted the format war between Blu-Ray discs and HD-DVD will end in a stalemate, and leave consumers out in the cold.

Ben Keen, Screen Digest chief analyst said: "We believe that the most likely outcome is... that the two formats will coexist until they give way to affordable dual-format solutions.
"Overall though, the net result of the format war and the publicity it has generated will be to dampen consumer appetite for the whole high definition disc category."

As we all know, the Playstation 3 will be using Blu-Ray discs when it's released, whilst the 360 will soon play HD-DVD discs.

Why pay so much on a Blue Ray or HDDVD DRM overloaded system when new better holographic disks and storage is just around the corner?!

Aye not to mention the fact that some films will only be on one format, and other films on the other. Plus anyone who uses a console as a hi def dvd player should be shot, but tbh i cant see many people with hi def screens doing that.

I hope some one like pioneer will do a dvd player that will play both media, but i very much doubt it.
