F.E.A.R. Multiplayer For Free  by Craig D at 19:24

PC
We don't get announcements like this one every day. Sierra Entertainment have today announced that the multiplayer component of F.E.A.R. is to be renamed F.E.A.R. Combat and given away for free in just over a week from now on August 17th.

All you have to do to play if register to get a free KeyCode at www.joinfear.com

F.E.A.R. Combat is the complete multiplayer component of F.E.A.R. and includes all the updates, additional official maps and additional official game modes all in one downloadable file. F.E.A.R. Combat users will be able to play against the owners of the retail version of F.E.A.R. as well as the other F.E.A.R. Combat users.

F.E.A.R. Combat features:
• 10 Multiplayer game modes
• 19 Multiplayer maps
• 12 different weapons
• Punkbuster support for anti cheat support
• The capability to download user generated content

How awesome is that? Thank you Sierra!

Ok I read this once thinking it was just a patch for the game, having re-read it that's pretty awesome on their part. It's good to see not all companies are money grabbing *&^%

Holy cow dis be good! Apparently the registration for the key code isn't up on the web site unless I'm missing something. Chalk one up for Sierra!

I suspect it won't be there until the 17th. It's a great idea tbh, I shoul imagine it ewill get a lot more people playing the game and that should give them a sales boost for the SP game and get peoeple interested in what they have coming next in the series.

Its completly diffrent, if your talking about BF, as BF is a MP only game, and Sierra have a new F.E.A.R game on the horison, so giving the MP game away will be a good bit of free publisity.

I think he was referring to EA charging for addon packs in that respect

I don't think the comparison works, either. But EA could give some stuff away for free now and then besides a re-made old map and 2 unlocks. (the new patch will have a new map - it's a start)

This is awesome news. Maybe a few more developers might take notice and do the same. Will definatley drum up interest for FEAR and FEAR2 and will almost certainly increase sales!

Will try it again, I didn't really like it with the retail version. Al the maps felt really samey... I'm also not the biggest fan of the engine too, It feels really clumbsy and slow.

Why not register and have your say?
