AMD Buys Ati  by Craig D at 10:42

PC
A poorly kept secret perhaps, but very interesting anyway. AMD has now confirmed that it will be buying ATI for a combined total of $5.4 billion, a lot of money. What does this mean for the future of PC graphics? Will AMD now manufacture ATI's cards? Is nVidia worried? Lot's of questions ponder.

Hmmm the level of co-operation with these two huge companies working as one, should produce some.... interesting and probbably some very innovative new standards for Graphics and Cpu's.

Personally i cant wait to see if the deal holds or falls through, as a gamer i see lots of possabilies, and as a buisness student i can understand the mutual benifits to both companies should the deal succeed.

Hopefully this benefits consumers and not just both company's bottom line. (which is, of course, the reason for the merger) I love when entities compete so I hope this raises a new level of fierce competition between GPU and CPU manufacturers.

It looks like AD may be droping the ATI brand name.
