Oblivion Patch Problems on the Xbox 360  by James W at 22:45

XBox
It seems the recently released Oblivion patch has raised a few issues on the Xbox 360. According to 1up while the patch has improved frame rates and reduced stuttering there are new concerns from users regarding long load times and random lock-ups. Users are also reporting bugs still being present from before the patch.

Some workaround solutions have already started appearing, however. Clearing your Xbox 360's hard drive cache reportedly fixes the loading issue, but if you aren't scouring the message boards, how are you supposed to put two and two together?

Even though the patch cleans up a number of glitches quests, many are still upset because it doesn't solve their existing issues. If you've already run into and experienced a glitch quest, there's a good chance the patch will do nothing to fix it; the patch can't fix contaminated saves. Consequently, Bethesda employees have been recommending fans start new characters if they want to experience these quests.

Take this with a pinch of salt, so far my Oblivion has been fine since the patch so might only apply to a few people.

I read about this but tbh, most of the official Oblivion forum users are a bunch of whiners. Hard to say if it's the patch or random non-patch related probs.

The 360 version had random locks in the first place. All on the loading screen.

REALLY don't want any more huge RPG's ported from the PC to the 360. They're too huge to clean out all the bugs. Although the 360 version was better for GFX (although a few mods sort that out), I really can't see myself buying another game like this for a console
