Battlefield 2 Server Browser Issue Fixed?  by Craig D at 01:11

PC
Battlefield 2 Logo There's a new Battlefield 2 community update on-line which suggest that the serve browser issues we've all been seeing while trying to play BF2 since the 1.3 patch may well be fixed. Seems a change made in the way the servers and Gamespy communicates has been reverted without the need for a new patch.

My own personal hope is that they scrap 1.3 entirely. Vehicle drops are frankly a joke, and why the hell are they adding new, awful features when the game is still full of bugs? There, I said it.

hahah they've just ****ed another thing up with this too, what a joke:

Please also note that if you are experiencing CTD issues upon start up that any alternate-ranking redirections in your windows "Hosts" file must be removed.

That means all ranked server that use the ABR ranked files can't run, so mods can't have their own unlockable weapons etc.

Just another way to make sure they can keep money coming in from selling their over-priced ranked servers.

why does EA care about ABR? they wont give us the tools to use their ranking, so we have alternate ways to keep tracks of our stats on mods, then they decide to eff that up too? seriously, wtf EA? what happeened to community support?

Maybe it's all about the rank cheaters who are Colonel or whatever, and can't even play? I mean, it's so frustrating to see a high ranked player in command who doesn't even know how to bring up the commander screen... and that's what really sucks!!

ON TOPIC: They DID fix the browser issue today. Chalk 1 up for EA... lol Now take away about 3474 for stupid bugs and dumb gameplay changes.

Who cares if EA dont support prm, whats the point of it? Its dull and crashes every 10 minutes, by the time it might be decent(which i doubt) et:qw and 2142 will be out anyway.

BF2 has been out just over a year, mods are what keep games like these alive. If EA don't support mods or the community in any way, and instead chose to shut down any developments that are being made then it's gonna kill off the game even quicker

The browser issue was fixed today yes, but the servers crashing every map change throughout the day (vanilla bf2 & mods) was rediculous and most servers remained empty all day because of it.

Hmm I didn't run into that issue yesterday so I'll keep an eye out for the crashings tonight. I had no problem finding plenty of vanilla servers to play on either.

server issues seem fixed by now, still, servers crashing constantly should not happpen this late in a games life cycle. It's pathetic. DiCE Canade should be making MAJOR apologies to the community not trying to convince ppl that dropping jeeps on people/commander tools is good for the game.
