Firefox nears 1.0  by James W at 00:12

Firefox The first Firefox 1.0 Release Candidate is now available, and infact im using it to post this! Being a RC it's only recommended for people keen to see 1.0. While Ive had no problems it is only a preview release and therefore far more likely to be buggy, remember that before you download.

There are a lot of changes under the hood and various cosmetic changes but a few stand out for me. Firstly we have something they have coined 'Live bookmarks', what this does is use RSS feeds to create bookmarks that reflect a particular feed. This is a really great idea, and makes using RSS feeds very convenient. For those not familiar with RSS feeds, lets just give an example of having a folder on your bookmarks called 'GameSlave News' which contains a list of bookmarks for each of the recent news items which you can click on to open, like normal bookmarks. Another feature that stands out is the new 'find in page'. Rather than having to have a search popup window it neatly sits down on the bottom of the window.

You can find further explanation of whats new here.

Yes, even though it is only an RC, I can certainly see the improvements.
