No FFXI for the PS3?  by James W at 12:36

Playstation
Playstation fans don't panic just yet, I did include a question mark there since this is far from definite. However a Japanese news site has spoken to FFXI producer Hiromichi Tanaka and he made some interesting comments about developing for next-gen consoles. It's not unsurprising to hear that Xbox360 operating system isn't dissimilar from Windows which makes porting an easy task. However to create the PS3 version they would have to start from scratch adding 2-3 years additional development time. He went on to say that he would prefer this development time to go into a new next-gen title. PS3 definitely wasn't going to see FFXI as a launch title, and he could not commit to FFXI coming out at all on the PS3. They also learnt of a new next-gen online role-playing game for Windows Vista and the PlayStation 3 was in the works.

I wouldnt be surprised to see the next FF on the PS3, it would just take too long to redevelop FF11
