Sega's Mega Drive Archive to Be Available For Revolution  by Craig D at 09:38

Sega today announced that their Mega Drive back catalogue of titles will be available on Nintendo's Virtual Console when the new system ships later this year, add that the Nintendo's formidable range of titles and you have some seriously popular old games.

LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (March 23, 2006) – SEGA Europe Ltd. & SEGA of America, Inc. today announced that they will be providing SEGA titles as part of the Virtual Console system for Nintendo's new generation console Nintendo Revolution.

"SEGA continues to develop innovative ways to showcase its new generation leadership," says Naoya Tsurumi, Chief Executive Officer, SEGA of America, Inc. and SEGA Europe, Ltd. "SEGA's support of the Virtual Console system will introduce more gamers to classic MEGA DRIVE hits and reinvigorate many of our popular brands."

Nintendo's Virtual Console will allow Revolution owners to download and play classic NES, SNES and MEGA DRIVE games through the Revolution network. With a game library of more than 1,000 titles for the MEGA DRIVE, SEGA is planning to provide a "best of" selection for gamers, enabling them to relive their favourite titles.

Amazing nwes. Revolution will be the pure gamer's choice i feel, just the Megadrive back catalog alone could keep me entertained for days.

The games are only like 3mb for a Cart too so you can play them in seconds

Aye, I expect you'll pay per play/download, few pence, don't know that for sure but it would make sense to me as I doubt the Rev has a HD.
