The Darkness No not the pop group, a next-gen console first person shooter title based on a popular comic book of the same name from Top Cow Productions. The game is already in production at Starbreeze Studios and should ship at the end of this year.

UK, Windsor – March 3, 2006 – 2K Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), announced today that it will publish and distribute The Darkness, a premier videogame based on the popular comic book franchise. The Darkness is currently in development for next generation console systems and scheduled to be released in late 2006.

Under development by renowned Swedish developer Starbreeze Studios, The Darkness is based on the best-selling comic book series from Top Cow Productions and utilises an internally developed next-generation game engine. The Darkness will feature a distinct blend of dark modern crime drama and supernatural horror with intense first-person non-linear gameplay.

"The Darkness videogame is a dynamic first-person shooter that will allow players to call upon the forces of the evil underworld as they fight in gritty, urban environments armed with an arsenal of guns, demonic creatures and supernatural powers." said Christoph Hartmann, Managing Director of 2K Games. "The dark and dynamic comic book storyline that fans love will translate well into first-person action."

In the game, players assume the role of mafia hitman Jackie Estacado. On the night of his 21st birthday, Jackie is possessed by 'The Darkness', an ancient demonic entity that gives Jackie spectacular powers. The story revolves around Jackie and his fight over the future of the Francetti mafia family and Jackie's search for light and love in a dark and violent world. As Jackie's story unfolds, the player must learn not only to battle with weapons, but also to utilise Jackie's extraordinary Darkness powers.

The best-selling comic book series 'The Darkness' launched in 1996 and is currently published in 19 different languages around the world. A feature film based on the franchise, produced by Platinum Studios and Dimension Films, is in pre-production for a projected release in 2007.

"The Darkness is a great franchise and we're proud to be developing the game with 2K Games, Starbreeze and Union Entertainment," said Matt Hawkins, Top Cow's President and COO.
