HL2: Episode 1 Is Standalone  by Craig D at 10:11

PC
Eurogamer got some resposnes to questions form Doug Lombardi at Valve which point to Episode 1 being a stand alone title that also includes a new version of HL2DM and HLDM: Source.

As to pricing and content: "For HL2: Episode 1 we're targeting four to six hours of new single player gaming plus HL2 DM and HL DM: Source for $19.99 - HL2 not required," he confirms. "For Episode 2, we're planning a similar offering at the same price."

$19.99 would be roughly £11.50, pretty good value really.

There's a HLDM: Source? Wouldn't that be the same as HL2DM? Weird!

It seems that the software houses are all quite focused on drip feeding content to us. Its not a bad thing as waiting year's for a game to be developed is frustrating for all parties but I can't help feeling that the "expansion pack" business model is suppressing the mod community which is IMHO a very negative thing.
