Quad GPU Dell Machine Soon  by Craig D at 01:26

PC
Dell Not much interesting stuff has yet come out of CES this year, it's not specifically a gaming show after all, but this is fun. Saw on Gamecloud a link to this Dell press release, it mainly showcases a new gaming PC, considering that each machine will have four nVidia 7800 GPU's, a dual core intel extreme dition CPU overclocked to 4.26ghz and will be hand painted by Mike Lavallee of Killer Paint, you can gather that this limited edition machine will be somewhat expensive. I wouldn't expect these to be available in the UK anytime soon.

Dell also announced it's 30 inch widescreen TFT monitor, now I'd love one of these, Half Life 2 at 2560 x 1600 would probably need one of those 4 GPU's machines to run at a half decent speed though. These monitors do however have a price, $2200.

pcper.com has a lot more info, including that they are 4 x 7800 GTX 512's (total 2GB of Video ram).

They also have pics.

There was an article the other week when they tried to run two dual nvidia cards to essentially get a quad GPU setup but they had driver problems which corrupted part of the screen. I guess Dell have either fixed this or are working with Nvidia on driver updates.

It's a hardware fix, there's some sort of special chip on those cards, PCIe lane splitter on those cards.
