In what will possibly be the first of many items of news from Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Bill Gates has confirmed the introduction an external HD-DVD player for the 360.

Surely he will ship later/ develop newer models with it built in? Otherwise it will fall behind ps3, i heard that halo3 is on 8 discs atm

You would have thought so but up till now its been denied that the 360 would even get an HD-DVD drive at all.

I seams stipid to me that they added HD video capablity but no HD drive, if they dobring a new one out with HD/DVD it will piss the ppl who have to buy one off a treat so i'm in favor of that (stupid rick kids )

Not really stupid as there are tons of videos, not to mention games to make use of the HD capaibility. I also think if you cared that much about picture quality, and you had your expensive HD display, HD-DVD films and audio equipment then you should get a dedicated HD-DVD player to get the best out of all your equipment. That said it is a bit of a shame that facility wasnt bundled in with the original product as an extra feature.

What? Buy an external drive for the xbox360? That will take up additional space, another power point and I'm not too sure about the transfer rate. Anyway, the external drive is a bad idea; I definitely prefer an internal solution.
