The Outfit Q&A  by Craig D at 15:26

XBox
Worthplaying have a Q&A with Adrain Cook, producer on Relic's upcoming Xbox 360 title, The Outfit. This is one of the games that might convince me to get a 360, though it's not out for a little while, March this year, so I do have time to get saving up.

WP: Xbox, PC, Xbox 360 .. all Microsoft, so I have to ask, is there any possible way we might see The Outfit on PC? How hard, or easy, would it be ?

AC: Fun fact: Up until a couple months ago, we had a PC version of the game that ran in parallel to our 360 version (mostly used for testing purposes). But now that we have a lot of the wizbang graphical features in on the 360 only (MSAA, depth of field, heat shimmer, etc.), the PC version looks like the ugly step child. The 360 is much more powerful than your average PC, so we'd have to make a lot of sacrifices to get the game going again on that platform. You never know though!

I think he's reffering to the normal target PC spec, which is probably much lower than a default xbox 360

The 360 is also designed with those effects in mind so it takes less of a performance hit by enabling them. But as Craig says, he is talking about an average PC as well.

Well I knew what he meant but the his high level reference wound me a up a wee bit & I have no doubt the 360 has some meat under the bonnet & that you can design a title without having to cater for multiple HW specifications but shelving the PC version of the title puts out a bad message to the rest of the developer community out there. With the cost of high end PC's dropping like stone the HW performance argument is not in my opinion a valid one - hell what's the current install base for the 360? I would wager that ther will be a greater number of X800 , 6800 ,7800 devices out there they will out number the 360 users out there for some time ( well for another year at least )
