Performance vs Value Ram  by Craig D at 19:16

PC
Here's an interesting one. You know that expensive low latency ram you just bought? Just how much faster is it that the cheap stuff? Legion Hardware attempt to find out and the answer might be quite a shock considering the cost difference.

Never trust the opinion of a woman, I bet she was getting new shoes and a handbag for reviewing the ram, right after she reviewed the latest hair drier on the market

this simply isnt true ive no idea how or why but anyone can see that my 1024 mb OCZ platinum ram gets me in the server before anyone else. maybe xms is just cack i dont know but in a real life test and one relevant to ram, as i am ot sure how fps is involved really. but my bf2 LOADS faster which is the true test of ram

loading speed is the test of the disk subsystem and ram combined

I got the cheep stuff and i'm not that far behind SENT, and my 7200rpm raid ant that good. personaly i'll take the £xxx in my pocket over a 30-40 second load time increase.

at the end of the day, the same can be said for some gfx cards, the bleegind edge are often way over priced for the extra 10fps or so. but ppl will pay the extra £ for it.

Its the same for all aspects of technology, what diffrence will an FX CPU give over my 3200+ and is it worth the extra £200+, can you kill ppl beter? thats not to say that if i could afford one i wouldent coz i would, but £200 is a months beer money and i have my prioritys, and my lesser PC can play every PC game on the market with ease. so till i rob bank its the cheep "beer filled" road for me

i certainly agree withthe top spec stuff is way over priced i usually go for second best but sadly 30-40 seconds in bf2 is usually about 10 points and the choice of the vehicles for the rest of the game at least for the first round anyway.

I tend to agree with the review. I've got the value select corsair RAM and it really is top notch. However, as the review says, try overclocking it one little bit and your system's crashed. Spend that little extra if you want to overclock with the XMS memory; otherwise the value select will do.
