Xbox 360 Has Nothing On Atari 2600  by Craig D at 13:39

XBox
Here's another article along the common theme of the current state of gaming, and indeed the Xbox 360 launch. This time well respected publication Forbes has a rant about lack of originality and increasing complexity. A stark compaision is made between the Xbox360 and the venerable Atari 2600.

The Atari 2600 controllers--the joystick and the paddle--each only had one button. That spoke to the elegant simplicity of gaming. A game that requires a controller with one analog and one digital direction stick and ten buttons is certainly more complex, but it's not more fun to play. The Macintosh mouse had only one button for 20 years, yet, it was always easier to use than a PC mouse. Even the new multi-button Mighty Mouse bends to the use of one button.

I like rants and I like ranting. This is the perfect example of a rant lost in the woods, one which people like us will read and enjoy However whether anyone will take heed of it is another matter, sadly.
