Missed this one the other day, a gamer has gone a paid a whopping $100,000 for a peice of property, and yes you guessed it.....its virtual property. For all the mere mortals out there who actually think $100,000 is a lot of money this is what the gamer bought and his plans for his des res property.

The gamer who bought a virtual space station for $100,000 (£56,200) says he wants to turn it into a nightclub to change the face of entertainment.

Right I give it 5 years from now and I shit you not we will have virtual exchange & mart. Full article over on the BBC News site

hanng on £56000 for nothing, thats a bit steep i would of sold him twice that for a fraction of the price.

It sounds pretty cool to me. I know the price tag was a tad much but if he can start charging punters for getting inside the club and listening to live music...I think that's swell.

er ok.. may be im missing something... "virtual space station" means its not real right? so its all online?? so you'll beset in you room drinking on your own typing to peeps? like irc or vent?? so you pay for that??

There's lots of people that have done this before, There was a guy in some MMORPG that paid about £20,000 for some land, but then he charged each person £10 a month to build a virtual house on it and he was raking it in.

There's lots of websites set up for selling virtual real estate / weapons / characters in MMORPG's just google for it. Koreans have set up companies that employ people to play MMORPG's constantly 24 hrs a day to get the best weapons and they do shift work on the same character and sell stuff to make money.. EQ's fortune in trading goods for real money is some incredibly huge monthly figure.. the money in EQ is nearly the same value as some third world countries.
