The Future of the GPU  by Liam S at 12:04

PC
AnandTech have published some insider information as to the future of both Nvidia and Ati's GPU's. From the sounds of things in the future you may be ordering a GPU just like you would a CPU as it would have it's own socket! Both chip designers have a slightly different take on how this will play out!

Here's Nvidia and then ATI.

Depends how they did it I guess, memory could be removable like system ram

It does say on one of those articles that video ram more or less HAS to be soldered on.

Yeah I remember seeing something about that, just saying that at this point who knows how it'll pan out.

In that case they will probably build the ram in to the chip, like the cache but bigger, which will make the price sky high

The ATI one states the Memory would have to be soldered on

bah i guess it wouldent be too bad if they made pre assembled solder kits (so n00bs dont solder their memory on upside down )
