UBISOFT withdraw Farcry 1.2 patch  by Scott H at 10:03

Only a couple of days after its release Ubisoft have now removed the 1.2 patch from official sites, Ubisoft had this to say yesterday on their official site:

"Far Cry patch 1.2 has shown unexpected behaviour on specific hardware configurations. These matters are mainly due to incompatibilities with several optimisations brought lately to the code, with the intent to please a large number of users.

We're currently asking CRYTEK to work on delivering a new patch as soon as possible. Until then we have decided to remove the patch 1.2 from the official UbiSoft websites."

Well my initial optimism for this game seems to have almost disappeared now, I bought it for the SP and in the hope that some good mods would be released. The lack of the SDK release, and now having to rework patches isn't going to do the community much good.

Ubisoft have had a good head start on Half Life 2 and Doom3, its a pity they seem to be wasting it.

Well if its affecting so many people they have overlooked something in the testing, obviously you cant test every configuration, but given the number of people having problems it must be a pretty common one. Maybe its the combination of an AMD chip and a gfx card. They obviously cant fix this one with elastic bands so have had to withdraw it.

It's ATI gfx cards, 1.2 crashes to desktop randomly apparantly.

Crytek signing up with EA isn't going to help the speed of this either.
