There's a Steam client update today, full details are on steampowered.com section as ever. Suffice to say that this update is part of the Steam version 3 client and it now looks one hell of a lot better.

There was also a minor Half-life 1 engine update too, again this was Steam V3 related.

Looks much better now. All they need to do is iron out some of the bugs and they're there.

netcode or hitboxes have nothing to do with a steam update. Steam provides more than just CS now.
