Freddie Flintoff, Cricket 2005 Q&A  by Craig D at 20:29

PCXBoxPlaystation
As most of you will already know, Andrew Flintoff has put his face and name to EA's cricket game, Cricket 2005. Just one of 2 , yes 2, Cricket games in the UK top 20 right now.

To celebrate England Ashes win, EA have done a Q&A session with the man himself, no doubt in between pints of beer and glasses of champagne, who can blame him.

There's a few screenshots in our gallery and you can find out more about the game or perhaps download the demo at EA's Sports UK site.

1. The EA Sports Cricket 2005 videogame offers gamers a great insight into the sport, but what's it like to see yourself on a computer game?

It's a bit weird seeing yourself and team mates in a game actually, but I love it!

2. Do you play the game with any of your team mates? If so, who's the most competitive?

Yes it's been in the changing room throughout the Test series. I'd like to say I'm the best, but as you'd expect with sportsmen we're all really competitive..

3. Who would win between you and Shane Warne?!

Me, of course, although I'm sure Warney would give me a good run for my money.

4. Which Aussie do you most looking forward to playing against?

They are all top quality cricketers, but Warney is a different class. He's one of the toughest competitors around as well as one of the best bowlers of all time. He's not too bad with the bat either.

5. Did you target any individuals on the Aussie team?!

I concentrated on my own performance. The Aussies were very strong mentally, so I didn't want to spend too much energy trying to ruffle them. The best way of getting to them is beating them!!!

6. Now England has won the Ashes, how long before Cricket overtakes football as the nation's favourite sport?

I'm not sure it will just yet! The public view is definitely changing, but it's still a way before it's up there with football.

7. Do you play any other sports, if so which ones?

I'm a natural competitor so I love football and rugby too. I'm also learning how to play golf and getting better all the time!

8. What would you do if you didn't play cricket?

That's a tough one; I've never wanted to do anything else.

9. Did you have a cricketing idol growing up?

Ian Botham was a fantastic all rounder.

10. If you could have 4 sporting greats, present or past, for dinner, who would they be?

I would have Botham, Warney, Pele and Donald Bradman.

i really enjoy cricket in real life, and cricket games are fun too believe it or not. The last EA Cricket game was ok, but tbh Brian Lara Cricket is much more polished. Brian Lara Cricket is the 'Pro Evo' to EA Cricket's 'Fifa'.

I think EA games in general are just the 'arcade' version of whatever sport, and the other competition, whoever it may be, is the 'simulation'. Like said above, Pro Evo - FIFA, The football manager vs Sports Interactive's etc.
Though I still do love EA's (ice) Hockey franchise, only cos I haven't tried any other brands though probably hehe.
