Battlefield 2 Night's  by Shane L at 16:39

PC
Been looking around at all the mod's out at the moment for BF2 and none had taken my fancy, until now..

Battlefield 2 Nights is a mini-mod in which default Battlefield 2 levels are converted to night. It is basically my own personal introduction to the Battlefield 2 mod structure. You will probably notice that the mini-mod itself requires a little more work. I understand this. Currently my main goal is to ensure the stability of the mini-mod during gameplay. In particularly multiplayer.

I must say looking at the screenshots that are on the main site I will be following this one a little more closely.

I don't mean to piss on someone's hard work, but it's more like heavy smoke than night. I know absolutely feck all about mod creation though so maybe it's really hard to make it darker than it looks there. Still - interesting idea for something so simple.

thats as dark as you want it m8.. trust me its a big improovement from the alpha mini mod he released in july... there were no lights and you couldent see anything..

the special forces expansion should allow for better night time scenes... i.e. nightvision

Surely they should've included a day/night option in the full release...? it would have essentially doubled the maps. And an option to have the battle at dawn would be excellent - ie: the map starts at night and slowly changes to day

The upcoming special forces expansion is mostly set at night.

monkeh... it might be possaible but i dont know anyone who could code that :/.. it would simply be too memory intensive and would probably result in even the best PC's losing about 50% of their fps (due to the fact they have to render the sky every frame too!)

Naw not true really.
Joint Operations has full day into night cycles and vice versa, and exactly that happens, you find yourself fighting in the dawn light.
It is hard as hell too. Too dark for non NV goggles and too bright to use them.
Lots of deaths happen hehe.

IMO, there is a LOT more they could have done in an environmental sense. It's very static as is.
First expansion will introduce night. The next probably rain. The third, I dunno, snow? Should have all been written in beforehand imo
But then, it's DICE and EA, so money matters first

The day/night cycle in JO was the only good thing about it though. It was full of snipers, the animations were duke nukem like, and the physics in the choppers was plain ridiculous. You pressed up.. you went up... no control needed, it was like it was on rails.
