Windows Vista Hardware Requirements  by Craig D at 00:48

PC
This TechEd 2005 article has Nigel Page, a strategist at Microsoft Australia talking about hardware requirements for the next version of Windows, now named Vista, previously called Longhorn of course.

It's well worth a look, but basically it seems that video cards and the amount of RAM they have are now becoming almost as important an issue as CPU speed and main system memory. This is a pretty major shift.

Thanks [H]ard|OCP.

rofl you need a high spec system for the new operating system than i exspect you will do for unreal tourny 2007. I mean luckly i got the system requirements bar the sata 2 hd's, got the sata 2 board though.
Begs the question though that if the OS needs that much to run, are you going to see less performance in games cos windows is using more ?

I doubt it Stan, the only issue will be RAM but that said memory management gets better with each version of windows so I expect they have something planned.

A lot of it sounds like what will make it run great rather than typical systems. I'm not too sure if I'd even want Vista if it really contains all the DRM-type stuff that has been mentioned. Especially when most of the major new features in Vista will be available for XP anyway.
