Xbox Live Gamertag Changes  by Shane L at 09:00

xbox For fans of the XBOX (me included) word on the grapevine is that the console is fast running out of gamertags !.
It has come to our attention that there are many names on the Xbox Live service that are extremely similar to other Gamertags (in most cases differentiated by only a single space). In order to avoid confusion, we want to give players the opportunity to change their Gamertags so that their friends are not confused about the identity of who they are playing. This should be a quick and easy process for a very small percentage of Xbox Live users.

Rumour also has it that Microsoft who own the XBOX are offering 12 months free "Live" service as a sweetener to people who are willing to change there gamertag.

I haven't played on the "Live" service in a while and my subscription ran out in april, I wonder if my Gamertag has vanished ?

A gamertag is an alias you are stuck with when you register, for every game?
