The Death of AGP?  by Shane L at 20:47

PC
There is an article over on Theinquirer that reports that nVidia will not be releasing an AGP version of it's 7800.

NVIDIA IS DOING the AGP to PCIe move faster than we expected, as it decided that it won't release the Geforce 7800 series in an old fashioned AGP way. The company will isolate 24 pipelined graphic cards for the PCI Express market only.

Wow, so if you have an AGP board and you want a 7800, new motherboard aswell then, unlucky. Although ATI will release an AGP version of it's new card the R520

Considering the cost of an average mobo it's not a massive issue really, especially since a lot of people would need a cpu upgrade anyway to make full use of a high end gfx card. That would make the new mobo a relatively minor cost.
