Morning Round-Up  by Shane L at 08:57

Kreed

The new upcoming first-person shooter Kreed is now available in a teasing demo version..

Experience this sci-fi shooter through the eyes of a genetically enhanced soldier on a ship lost in a black hole

This science fiction themed shooter can be downloaded over on the Jolt site.

Brothers in Arms
There is a 14 minute movie of the latest offering from Gearbox Software Brothers in Arms..

This lengthy 14-minute demonstration from E3 is narrated by Gearbox Software President Randy Pitchford and Colonel Antel, and it goes through how the game will work in practice, how the game will model its characters (who are based on real-life soldiers), how you'll aim and fire on suppressed enemies, and how you'll give orders to the rest of the soldiers in your squad. Brothers in Arms is scheduled for release on the Xbox and the PC later this year.

Esports a sport ?

An article over on the Gotfrag site written by "Echo7" goes into detail about his opinion on Counter-Strike being classed as a sport, seems we share the same opinions and it is well worth a read..

The CPL is offering a $250,000 summer event for 5 different games, with CS being the largest purse of $100,000. While this may seem like quite a large number when looking at it, 100 grand broken down is hardly worth anything. The top prize is 30 grand. Since this prize is for Counter-Strike, it obviously has to be split 5 different ways. For half-a-year worth of work and dedication, where one can spend upwards of 10 to 50 hours each and every week practicing, receiving 6 grand for all of your efforts is a bit on the low end. In fact, it's so low that it's a minimum wage salary.

PC of the future

Finally finishing on a lighter note, fancy a 1000ghz PC ?, well that just may be the case in the near future, a bit of news I found earlier on the Gametab site reports..

"I estimate that the theoretical speed limit for these nanotube transistors should be terahertz (1,000 GHz), which is about 1,000 times faster than modern computer speeds," Burke said.

I do as well mani, though I think doom3/hl2 will be more unique considering how flooded with war/military games we are. But I'm more interesting in playing BiA for sure.

An easy way to watch the small vid more convenienttly is to rip the url out of the page source (or copy this) and in Windows Media Player 9, go File>Open url and paste it in. Watching it at 200% aint too bad, hopefully it wont be too long till the high quality version makes it out of the pay-to-download scene.

Does anyone have a gamespot or equiv account? And is it worth it, if so who's the best to subscribe to?

I think its hard to justify accounts on sites like gamespot, though I suppose at least on sites like gamespot/gamespy you are getting more unique content rather than just faster downloads. That said it would be quite nice to share the cost of an account.
