GC2 Ships and PS3 News  by James W at 13:05

Fans of Ground Control 2 will probably have noticed it has now shipped. Suprisingly there is already a patch available (v1.0.0.6 > v1.0.0.7) that fixes quite a few bugs and adds features. Is this what happens when companies try and keep deadlines and sarifise testing time? You can get the patch at the link above and there is a changelog here.

Eurogamer.net reports that the Playstation 3 is likely to be released at a wallet burning $500 due to its extra features. Boosting a DVD burner allowing you to use the PS3 as a 'video' recorder is said to have added $250 to the price. There is however comments of a cheaper 'bare bones' system. The console is not likely to be available until late 2006 at the earliest. Click here to read more.

On the subject of next-gen consoles there is article out detailing the spec of the XBOX2 aka Xenon. Quite simply the spec is jaw dropping, but you only have to compare the grahics from the PS2 and GameCube with the XBox to see that having a mhz advantage isnt everything. You can check it out here.

Ive never owned a console because Ive never been able to justify the money to myself. Does mean I missed out on the likes of Mario etc but there arnt many games that you buy a console just to play. Though Ive heard many people say they will buy a PS3 just to play GT4.

As much as i love PC gaming, you cant beat the thrill outa 4 cans a pizza a couch and a gg on a console.

I think the main problem is the cost. I bought a PS2 when it was really expensive. By the time the price comes down to a reasonable level, there's only a year or so left before everyone's talking about the next-gen. I don't think I'll ever buy another console for myself, but I have no doubt my child will want one...at which point I'd probably go for the Sony machine.

Just updated with a post about the XBOX2, spec is nuts... I mean anyone who follows CPU's will be well aware of the hype about dual-core p4's and amds.. but this puppy has three cores all running at 3.5 GHz

man wtf, thats stupid! Xbox2 will be about.. hmm.. 5 times better than my PC. Btw Felon GT4 is coming out on the PS2 not 3! Consoles are good, but u get pissed off when u find out a game is not coming out on your console. Another thing i dont like about consoles is u can't patch finished products, so if they are dodgy they stay dodgy. Im not a hardcore PC fan mind either. But Pro Evo 3 really is the game of legends.
