Quake IV is a no show  by Shane L at 10:05

q4 iD Software have announced that Quake IV will not be showcased at this years Quakecon.

I think iD know what they are doing though, with Half Life 2 and Doom 3 on the horizon I think they would be looking at a summer 2005 release myself.

However, iD have announced that this year's event - which kicks off on 12 August in Grapevine, Texas - is "too early" to show Quake IV. "We've been trying not to whip people into a frenzy with Quake IV," says iD CEO Todd Hollenshead. "When we show the game, we want it to be something that's really impressive for the people who have been waiting for it.

ive heard Q2 will be remade using the doom3 engine, in a similar way to HL1 for HL2. I think it would be brilliant if the same was done with Q1, arguably a much better game than Q2

Q2 was much better for a signle player experience, but utter bollox for multiplayer.

Q1 is probably just too fast a game for the Doom3 engine yet, unless you have some sort of ninja pc anyway.

i liked the Q1 world better, with castles, demons and HP Lovecraft creatures, as opposed to robots and a future scape from Q2
