Would you call your child Gordon Freeman or even Sarge? Didn'nt think you would, but Slashdot picked up on this little gem and I thought I had to share it.

Sony Online Entertainment just sent notice that some poor baby has been named after a character in EverQuest. Apparently players really, really love this game. Case in point: player Tabitha Ayers gave birth to a baby girl January 6, 2005, and promptly named her Firiona Vie Ayers, in honor of EverQuest's famous spokes-elf. The path to geekdom for this child has aready been paved in 12-sided dice and character sheets.

It's not a totally mad name though. Still wouldn't even dream of naming my child that.

I decided about 10 years ago, if I ever had a daughter I would give her a middle name from lord of the rings, and shes called Olivia Arwen.

But thats a nice name anyway.

Why wouldn't you name your child that Mani? It's a beautiful name. It doesn't really matter where it came from, as long as it fits the child....and it really does.

Becauase I'd then be responsible for all the crap she got at school. But as I said, It's not a totally mad name. I've seen worse,
