Soldiers - Heroes of World War 2 Demo  by Scott H at 18:49

Codemasters have released a 1 map single player demo of their upcoming RTS game.

Quote from the official site:-

'Soldiers - Heroes of World War II drops you into the heart of the most intense WWII combat-action. Take control of the most elite American, British, German or Russian forces ever to impact on the war-zone. Up against overwhelming odds, you must complete your missions incorporating stealth, guile, speed and aggression.'

The thing that makes this RTS a little different though, is that you can actually click on a vehicle and take complete control of it, using the games 'Direct Control' feature.

The full game will allow you to control the Germans, Russians, British or Americans, and from what ive seen quite a few military vehicles from each side will be available.

Further information is available on the official site

Having had a quick blast, certainly seems an interesting game. I agree it does seem a little strange at first, just takes a little getting used to the interface.

It ran pretty well on my 2800+ Barton with Radeon Pro 9700, something a little different anyway. Quite a bit going on gfx wise, lots of animation, reminds me a little of Commandoes really, full game should be worth a look anyway id say, if youve got the PC to play it.

Yeah the attention to detail is impressive, i just hope there a better introduction to what you are ment to do in the full game. My spec is 2.6/ti4600, its playable but not easy to click on things when the fps drops especially when the destructable terrain comes into play
