Half-Life 2 probs

Well I downloaded the demo for Half life 2 and I have a problem on load up.

The game loads to the main screen ok and when I select new game it goes to load up and then hangs while loading and locks the pc.

Any help would be appreciated.

How long have you left it there?

Is your machine still connected to the internet at the time?

Have you installed the latest drivers for your gfx card?


I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Leave it for 60-90 seconds, I installed the latest drivers about a month ago and yes connected to the internet.

The main menu uses ingame graphics so can take as long to load as a level does. So as craig said give it 10 mins and make sure its fully updated before your play it as that can make it crash.
Edit just noticed u say u get to the main menu fine, well it can take quite some time to load a level m8, especially if your pc aint stupidly fast.
