Well, having paid for the silver package on steam I had a few games last night.

I was expecting it to be just a port onto a new engine, and that's exactly what it is, the network code is still just as bs. And it still feels quite false compared to cod.

But... The physics engine is by far the best I've yet seen, blowing up bits of fruit in the marketplace on cs_italy its just great, Water Melons explode as you'd expect, bunches of bananas fly apart etc, incredible fun from shooting inanimate objects.

One other really odd thing, it seems the players/maps our completely out of perspective, more specificially, the players look tiny at times. Quite poor tbh.

I'm still coming to terms with the price of the packages. I was going to order via. Steam until I was informed that the prices shown are without tax. This makes the bronze package around £33.50, about £7 more than I can get it for in the shops.

I'm all for Valve selling their software online via. Steam, but by-christ, they've got to have a more competitive price structure. I realise this might be VU's doing, but something's gotta give.

[Apologies if this is slightly off-topic]

The players/maps were always rather out of perspective for most maps.

I agree Kendo, should be cheaper really... since you are just buying a licence from them after all, no box/cd etc. Maybe its just to stop too many purchases over steam...

i played the beta for a few weeks and the hit boxes seem to change for each map... but overall the game feels ..... FAKE..... mainly cos you can still jump 30ft gaps and bounce onto crates that are 12" higher than any real person could reach

quite frankly i would rather Steam got their act together and made a more realistic version..... but meh not gonna happen.

oh well when i have some ££ ima go graba bronze package from the local Game

I agree with all the points you've made. All they've done is put BS CS on a new engine, we want more then that, new maps, new gameplay, etc.

I had the beta and the final version is just as buggy. It's got a long way to come i think before it's a decent MP. Hitboxes, netcode, etc. are way off.

The fact cs source is more bullshit than 1.6 says it all, and to be fair i didnt think you could get much more bs than 1.6. Proves how wrong i was

Do you play CoD MP or CoDUO MP? I've got a working CoD MP CD key, but no CoDUO MP CD key. Abbreviations

Bought HL2 over Steam last night and played Counter Strike for the 1st time ever. That's right - never played any kind of version of it.

I've not played many online games but are they all so difficult for noobs to get into? I got pwned within about 20 seconds of every game restart. But then I only had 1 round in my pistol and everyone else seemed to have nice shiny automatic weapons.

You get better weapons by using the buy button, I think default is "b",
you earn money for killing the other team or planting bomb / returning hostages
