So, I've ended up with an unexpected PS3 this Xmas, which is better than the proverbial poke in the eye.

So, I nip out to game and have a nose at what to buy. I haven't had a console for about 7 years or so....

I end up buying COD4, Modern Warfare.

OK, so how do you control the first-person style of play without a mouse and keyboard? Its impossible? I've tried and tried using the two mini-joystick-thingies on the PS3 controller, but its just ridiculous. Running, strafing and aiming its just slow and difficult, and I end up pointing the wrong way (or roughly the right direction but never quite exactly the right direction).

Can you get mouse/keyboard combos for these things or what? I really can't imagine that people play this game using a standard controller, and be able to aim properly???? If so then I'm just a spaz............. or too wedded to pc games.

Hate to say this Junks but your a spaz ... on a serious note the FPS gaming does take some getting used to but it is possible with a game pad . Personally I use my PS3 for sports sims , adventure & driving games . You can look at getting one of these Frag FX it gets great reviews from the press but mixed reviews from play.com. TBH FPS games are really PC territory , oh you will be able to plug in your keyboard & mouse for Unreal Tournament 3 .

BTW what are the lads form SA up to these days ? You guys still playing & where is you website ?

I'm the same though, pads are just not right in FPS games

It's easily playable with a pad, you get used to it, and if you play with a pad long enough you can get really good. However, mouse and keyboard for FPS titles are better, but the pad is still good fun on the consoles.

You can get quite good on console pads if you practice yes, I find it easy in Gears of War and Halo etc. You can still snipe when you get used to it. It depends on the game too. No console FPS has beaten Goldeneye on the N64 for me.
