rite, heres the " roblem" I have lots of music (eg. 23.41 Gbytes) but i have noticed recently that some of the music has duplicates. Is there a way of searching my hard-drive to delete any duplicates (without going through the 5842 songs manually)?

Not quite sure really...
If they have the same file name I can only think of using the files and folder search option in windows. I'm sure the is some software that lets you tidy up MP3's but I've never actually had the need to download one (I've kept my archive pretty tidy).
I can only recommend googling for some software to do it for you. I'm sure the other guys will have some kinda clue though.

If you get Itunes you can use the option in there to find duplicates, then just select them all and chose 'remove from my computer' or the similar option.

oh dear, i was so close. Tried adding all my music onto iTunes (again, because i already have it, but never used it) and it says it wants to convert all my .wma files into AAC format :S. Is there any other suggestions?

aac is beter than wmp. but cant you convert them to mp3? as wmp is a microsoft format so you'll be hard pressed finding a player that does it.

Any chance of you Shortening the Names of the threads you make?,id have named this something like "Media Help needed", or something along them lines.
Try to make the Thread names simple, but Informative aswell, then ask the question in the first post.

hmm easiest way of doing it is probably to go to search. Search for *.* then click the box in advanced to show music files I think it is. Then sort them by name and you will see the duplicates. just delete them from there.

You don't have to. lol there are two options i can see; Convert Skip and the definition of skip means the wma's wont be added to the iTunes libary (unless converted). PLUS: Converting all my beloved wmas would take days - so if any1 reccomends this, they get a nipple cripple or/and a chinease burn.
