well there are big brand name projections, i give u screenplay and from what i have read their 10k projector is fantastic. The point is you need to tweak and setup projectors far far more than any other screen, plus you need to spend a decent amount on the screen as well. Projectors give you the biggest screen but the more u spend on the projector the more you have to spend on the replacement bulb and the less time it lasts, even budget 1k projectors are going to cost you 250 quid for a new bulb every 3000 hours.

we're getting a projector for our uni house next year. But as we're students (and its five finger discount), quality is not the highest thing on our list. Just a big screen to watch Our favourite telly + Play Pro Evo in almost lifesize glory

Well ben dont forget the cables you will need, the screen you will need and then the replacement bulb every 2000-3000 hours plus the thing to mount it.
Also you will have to make sure your room is pitch black, and if its a really nasty projector you may find it next to impossible to game on it.

jammins got the right idea. 3000 hours could last someone 5 years, depending on how you look after it and how much you watch it

5 years ? thats being a tad optimistic, and they are like normal bulbs they can blow for no reason when they are no where near the end of their lifespan.

you normally get a bulb free with most decent projectors too. i could make a projector last 5 years - depends on how much tv you watch

You dont seem to be reading what we are saying, bulbs can blow for any reason, be it they got hot while you watch it then you turn the projector off wrong and blow the bulb, or a power surge. The bulbs only come with a 3 month warrenty if they blow after then, you have to buy a new bulb out of your own pocket even if you have only used the bulbs for a 100 hours.
I would love a projector but at the end of the day i cant justify the 10k it would cost to get me a decent one with decent picture then the at least 500 quid per bulb to last say 2000 hours at max.
I aint saying dont get a projector, just dont be a fool and think about it and realise you may go threw several bulbs a year and what happens if one blows and you don't have the cash to replace it.

Exactly, couldn't agree more.

I think the "ignore him" approach, is the wrong approach.

sigh, god - i dont have to be childish but it gets kinda repetative sumtimes wiv ur "oh no"s and general critasm. yes, we've discussed the fact that you have to get a replacement bulb for the fekin thing - im prepared for that. Get over it and move on!!! jesus christ, didn't expect a little argument could ever go this far

The fact is - i belive that it is less likely to blow early in its life if you look after it properly. I know u guyz think otherwise but honesly i couldnt give a shit. Just think to yourselfs (if it does blow) ...
"ha ha ha, that shitfaced cock muncher called 1_Ru13 - we told him, we told him" but im prepared to take my chances. Its my problem if it explodes but im prepared to take that risk.
