Renowned fantasy writer David Gemmell died today at 57, never recovering from a heart bypass. BBC linkSad day, I grew up reading his books and they contributed to my love of reading all sorts of literature. Some may call it trash fiction, but coming from someone who ahs studied English Literature at degree level, there's no shame in writing a good story. rip

I also grew up reading Gemmell's books and whilst they may have been a lesser influence in my love of reading, (my main influence has been Raymond E Fiest.) i will sorley miss his works.
I believe that his publisher still plans to publish his Second Book in the Troy series, "Sheild of Thunder", however i doubt we'll ever see the final book in the Trilogy.
[funny how most Gemmell Readers also read Eddings and Fiest.]

aye, i reccomend his older works first as his newer works delve more into the realm of... a mythical fiction [since the troy saga is a diffrent twist on the story of troy]

Matt I heard Digital Fortress is poor. I've read Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code. Both good reads but I haven't heard much good about Digital Fortress.
