Just read that Sky have confirmed their HD service will start on Monday, 22nd May.

Sky has also revealed what HD punters will be watching in the first week on its HD channels. Top billing for the opening night goes to Star Wars with Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith the big draw. Other big movies for the first week include Wallace & Gromit In The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and the oldie, but probably very good in HD, Independence Day.

aye its due either 23rd or 24th of this month, cant remember which think its a wednesday though. Thing is though its still sky so it will still be a low bandwith version of hi definition, we wont be seeing the best out of the format for a while yet not untill hi def dvds are out. Even then it will take some time as just look at dvd they are still improving the picture of that regularly.

Never noticed a change in any dvd qual tbh.

Hi-def is still a few years away for me...not in any rush though as not a big tv user.

Oh there is a huge difference m8, just in the time frame between the first lotr extended dvd and the return of the king one, is enough time to noticably improve the picture quality capable from dvd. Of course you need a decent setup to notice it, but its just down to them learning how to get the best out of the format.

Well i rule it all depends on what you want and what kit you have, on your 21 inch bush tv it wont be anything special. On a large hi def screen it will be stunning. I cant wait to watch shows like 24 in hi def with dolby digital, will bring you into them that much more.

Never thought id say this but im more on i rul3s side of the argument. Yes its nice if you can afford it but its far from essential at the moment.

You dont need a tv, or broadband or sky or a computer or very many things at all. Its all down to what you want and what you will do with something.

How does this work? do you have 1 HD only chan or all the sky chans and it only shows the hd shows in hd?

No not all the channels are in hd, basically they have about 10 hd channels atm including sky movies 9 and 10, sky 1, arts world hd sky sports hd. These channels are just identical clones of the other channels but broadcast in hi definition. Soon bbc1,2, itv, channel4, and ch5 will be broadcasting at least some of their shows in hi def.
So just to sum it up, you would have sky1 and then sky1 hd channel same goes for sky sports and sky sports hd. The hd channels aint all bunched together though which is a pain in the arse.

Yes but i am the kind of guy that likes to scrolls threw all the channels not just my faves, just incase i miss something
