I am sorry but that looks stupid shite, It doesnt feel or look like a Die Hard film, and whats up with that twat in the car with Bruce being scared and making stupid ****ing comments, that shit is going to get old real quick, not to mention the stupidly overly American flags and freedom bollocks, and the car just missing both their heads by a inch, and a car blowing up a helicopter. I am sorry I didnt realise the trailer was for badboys 3, if the entire film is like that, and I am pretty sure it will be, then it will just be another Hollywood load of blockbuster shite.

I am 90% with Stan on this, I oh so want it to be a good film but if its not I'll will not be supprised, Die hard should have stayed in the 20th century with rocky and terminator.

First things first, there are very few 'Action' movies that are still good and original, the last 'action' film I enjoyed was Man on fire. But this isn't Die Hard, this is just some Hollywood blockbuster to please the average American who just want to be entertained for their $5. If this wasn't a Die Hard film it would get a similar response as Bad Boys 2 or Miami Vice, but instead all they do is stick the title as Die Hard 4 and all of a sudden the anticipation is higher than ever. In my opinion this is just a cheap way to get more money out of a crap action blockbuster.

I want a good action film and that's probably what I'll get. None of the Die Hard's have been realistic in any way.

All I want to do is get the pop corn out, sit down and watch an action packed film. The film didn't look "shite" to me at all. To call it shite, I'd be comparing it to films like Resident Evil 1/2, Transporter, Fantastic 4 etc.

Maybe to you, but there are people with differing tastes to you.

They may not have been realistic as you call it, but they did not go over the top like that trailer does, Die Hard one was a utter classic, and quite frankly I will call Live free Die Hard shit and compair it to other films as it has the Die Hard name in it, if they didnt want people to do that then they shouldnt have called it a Die Hard film or even have made it. I dont care if you want to go and waste your money on shite, I dont and it is now part of a respected set of films and thus must fit into that universe and do the previous attempts justice, of which I am pretty sure this new Die Hard does neither.
This will NOT be a good action film, hell I need to sit you down and educate you in what a good film is, and what a good action film is, just blowing shit up and doing stupid ****ing stunts and filling the film full of cg and explosions does not make it a good action film in the SLIGHTEST.
Its quite simple they called it Die Hard to get people to watch it and pay to watch it, if it didnt have Die Hard in the name then people would just ignore it or write it off as another silly shite hollywood film.
Die Hard changed the way we watch films like that, so much so even now films are refered to as Die Hard on a train , or Die Hard on a boat or what ever, Its all about the characters who are perfectly cast, its all about the tone.

People may have different tastes to me and enjoy stuff I dont, but that still does not alter the fact that most of these American blockbusters we see are still badly done shite, I am not saying you cant enjoy something. I am just pointing out that they are badly done and there are far far far far far better films and versions to watch. Sadly most people dont get to see the better films and thus have nothing to compair these pile of shites too. There are films I enjoy which are fairly shite and films I hate that I must admit are well made just I dont like them.
However this new Die Hard looks utter bullshit, but as usual I will get flamed till the film is out and people see that i am right again.

When you mentioned me not knowing what a good film is (another examle of you thinking you have superior taste to everyone else), I just couldn't be bothered with the bullshit.

I didnt say you didnt know what a good film is, what I meant to imply is we can only judge films on what we have seen, and most people havent seen a fantastic action film, or if they have it wasnt in a context or situation where they could fully appriciate it. Thats the only way some ones taste can evolve and change is by seeing other films or better films. I am sorry if you took offence at that, but its just the way it is, the same way people think The departed is good just because they have not seen the original it was based on, which is ten times the film the Departed turned out to be.
I wasnt trying to be arrogant cos there are plently of films out there I aint seen yet and no one can claim to have seen every good film, cos if they do they are just talking shite. However I have seen all the Die Hard films multiple times and I have watched all the documentries and listened to the commentries and interviews, so that even If I could not tell what type of film the Die hards were, it would have been explained to me in the extras and as such I can tell that this film bears no resembalance to the originals at all.
Anyway if you enjoy films that I think are utter shit and bore my tits off, then you are lucky as you got a hell of alot more out of them than I did.

i like the look of it, it looks totally over the top and action packed just like a trashy action movie should be. ryan gotta agree with ralinn in some ways, u think way too deeply about movies, die hard has never been about its great storytelling, its been about totally over the top action and a few laughs, i hope its not shit either, and ill probably like it regardless, but it dont look that bad dude

Actually you go and watch Die Hard 1 again and it aint over the top in the slightest, ok sure he manages to kill a shed load of people without getting too badly hurt, but compaire it to most action films and its really quite realistic. Not to mention the near perfect casting of Alan rickman as a badguy, sorry but diehard aint your run of the mill action film in the slightest, it is a genre defining film. This new one bears no resembalance to the original in any way shape or form and it looks like just another shitty hollywood stupid fking action film and as such it doesnt deserve to use the Diehard name. Hell how many times have we seen a car flip and miss a characters head by a few inchs, this isnt Die Hard at all, even Diehard 3 which got close to being silly wasnt this over the top. Sorry I dont enjoy slagging off every film that gets posted here, but hell post about a good film and I will sing its praises but alas most films are utter shite just like most games are and most so called singers, its the way of life shite outnumbers the good, I wish it didnt but thats the way of the world. Also it use's the Diehard name and as such it is going to get scrutinized more than normal films, its meant to be part of the Die Hard world and it just does not look as if it is going to be able to pull that off, same as Alien Resurection and AVP.
Sure i look at a film in a number of ways, ok this means I dont appreciate a shit film cos I see all the ways it fails, but it does mean that I can appreciate a good film far more than your average viewer. Not to mention this is from the director of Underworld which had about as much talent and originality and flair behind it as a porn film.
Die Hard is NOT a overthe top trashy film in any way shape or form, otherwise I would say fair enough but this has to fit the tone of the other films and the style etc.

Action films these days are getting worse and worse now, mainly due to special effects. Set pieces and stunts always looks better when they're gritty and realistic, which is why Indiana Jones still rapes every other action film to this day.

The only modern action film in recent years I can think of that has pulled off action and stunts well is the Bourne Identity

Agreed mal but even then the sequal to borne Identity, Bourne Supremacy is a load of shit, just badly done.
There have been good action films over the years but they are rare like mal says, I agree that the Indy films are near perfect in every way and as such still trounce almost everything today, its down to the casting and the direction and the subtle nuances and just everything. Sadly Hollywood doesnt seem to understand that anymore they think just lots of explosions make a good film, lets take a look at Pirates of the Caribean the reason that done so well as it did was down to the subtle performances of people like Johnny Depp. Does the studio recognise this ? does it bollocks they think it was to do with pirates and big explosions.
They seem too forget that the films that started these huge blockbuster money makers were small independant films like starwars and the godfother in the first place, films that were made because the director in question had a vision not cos he wanted to make a studio friendly sequal to earn a shit load of cash.
Infact talking of Indy has made me really want to go watch one, so I think I will go watch Raiders of the lost Ark now and forget about trying to educate people in what makes a good or bad action film or even what fits a series of films.

Its the same reason why Hollywood Kungfu films are poor, they do everything with cg instead of the old fashioned way. In my opinion cg is both the best and the worst thing to have happended to films, because when done well in films like LOTR, then it allows you to do what could not have been done before and to make that world and film that much more immersive and well done. Sadly however most of the time CG is used because its easier and because it needs less talent or thought than a proper stunt or proper effect or set. If something can be done naturually i.e without cg then its almost always better to do it that way.
I once seen a interview with George Lucas where he was defending the use of CG in his films saying that his CG character is no less real than a man in makeup and as such it shouldnt take you out of the film, well mate thats utter bullshit.
Even with bad makeup you could reach out and touch it, where as CG is fake in every sense of the word and as such if done badly or not used properly , it can take some one out of the film because its not real and it doesnt have to apply to any of the laws of the planet, eg Physics and light etc.
Hollywood has also lost sight of the fact that what we dont see is more often than not far scarier than some piss poor cg monster that the director cooked up.
Indy doesnt date because it was all done for real with stuntment and as such you dont go back to it a few years later and say my god how false and poor does that look.

its times like this i feel good about being an 'average' movie goer, looks like a kick-ass movie to me, cant wait to see it
