I especially love their mention of a 'traditional, straightforward playback mode'. I bet it pained them to have to include any way to play the content at all. Rest assured they have top minds working on making sure nothing will be straightforward in the future.

I doubt a boycott will work but I hope it does, I wont be buying either player anyway as I believe download systems will make them both obsolete inside 3 years.

As we've discussed before, the new Disc formats have prohibitive DRM and copy protection, the concept of fair use is that it is considerd ok to make backup and copies of your own media for your own use. These new formats will not allow that in any way.

it means its shit and its gonna get boycotted because
A: its a waste of money
B: its not going to stop piracy it's just gonna make it hell for normal users

+ once everyone has 10mbit+ and you can buy all your movies online, wtf needs discs anyway
