noooo. Read the other thread on motherboards. Get the DFI. It kicks the shit outta the asus. And dont bother wasting ur money on two 6600s. Just get one 6800GT then you can upgrade to another when u want Uber performance.

its pci-e and the reason i never bought a 6800 was for the simple fact of cost and that the next gen monster cards are just around the corner.
gfx cards went pci > agp > pci-e in the gfx evolutionary ladder.

you should also try to ignore what scrappys says as anything that comes out of his mouth is flawed bear in mind he spent 600 quid and 2 cards says it all really

what would be the point in buying any of these new cards when the ones out now are sooo good? saw the 512BM nvidia card is that what you were talking about? i think i will get a 6800GT. but are there any games i wouldnt be able to play at their best with a 6600GT? because if there arent then i may as well just get a 6600GT and another one whn i need it. duh

nope on my card i can play all games on max detail, and if i need more power i can buy another and play it in sli mode.
Like i said the next gfx cards are just around the corner so prices will start to fall soon anyway.

Depends if u have the money to spend. CPU wise the AMD64s run really cool anyways, so unless ur doing CRAZY overlocking you will be fine without. If ur doing it to cut out noise then u need to watercool your gfx (x1or2) as well. Then it starts getting more complicated and more expensive. Also u have to bear in mind if you're watercooling u need a very large case.

yeah i was thinking of the expense of it all and unless i get a big payout some time i will probably not go with the water cooling. thanks for the help etc and i will keep you all informed on what goes on.

If you are going to go with the 6600GT, then i recommend the GIGABYTE GV-NX66T128VP (hardware: 128MB GDDR3, GeForce 6600GT PCI-E VIVO). A heat pipe replaces a fan making it completely silent, and during a review of nVidia graphics cards, PC Zone said it was the fastest 6600 they'd ever tested. You can see the card here.

Whats the difference between that and the normal GeForce 6600GT 128MB DDR3 Memory with 400MHz and 8x AGP?
which is the better 6600?
GeForce 6600 128MB PCI-E GeForce 6600 256MB PCI-E GeForce 6600GT 128MB Leadtek 6600 128MB PCI-E Leadtek PX6600 GT Extreme PCI-E
As the 6800GT and 6800 Ultra are probably too expensive for me to buy, as i dont even have a job, hehe.

saracen i wouldent recomend a PCI-E as you wont be able to use it without a new motherboard... unless your mobo supports PCI-express.. so your stuck with the AGP unless you wanna get a new mobo too the only 6800 ive seen under £100 is the 6800LE 128Mb as for the 6600 your stuck with the 6600GT ... ive seen a 256mb one for like £140 with several games then if you have an extra £30 you could get this hehehehehe
Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything.

Thanks so much Maz, my mobo is new and i looked at its details and it has pci expansion slots, so i guess it doesnt support pci-e which is the new technology in gfx so i guess i cant upgrade to 16x and only 8x which is a sh*t.
Anyway, i would prefer to get a 6800, which ever one is best at a good price, because i know the Ultra is pretty damn good but also pretty damn expensive. So if thats what you suggest i guess i should go for a 6800 instead.
However, which 6800 would you suggest? The GeForce 6800LE 128Mb, GeForce 6800GT 256MB, or an ATI card?
I was actually just told that 6800LE 128Mb is good but i already have a gfx card with 128MB, i want 256MB+, so im confused.
The GeForce 6600s are the same as the 6800s but the 256MB ones only have DDR RAM and the 128MB ones have the DDR3 Memory, and not DDR3 Memory like the 6800s which all come with 256MB anyway.
And im sure i could scrape together another £30 lol, if its worth it.
Is that the card you would choose then? I think thats the one i would go for anyway, seeing as i dont have pci-e and its not too pricey, but still quite a lot. Can't they just keep Doom 3 and take £30 off it?
