Reeto totally sick of out inet connection at home now, the speeds i get are right out of the mid 90's. on a good day can download at 22-25kbs yes thats 20's and not a typo, ping range is 100-200. So mobile broadband be worth it for me or could it be the fact im on Sky? About 5 miles to my local exchange, living in a village has loads of good points but net access is wank.

Location location "net" and location!

My experience of mobile Broadband is that its only good in very quiet Strong reception areas, other than that its 56k or worse speedwise

Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything.

Ditto on what Maz just said, you wont be playing CoD on mobile broadband tbh. Even super slow shitty ADSL is likely to be faster and 5 times cheaper.

Suppose cable isn't available? Cable doesn't have the issue with distance from the exchange like crappy DSL.

Which ISP are you with btw?

Sometimes you can get them to change your Personal Profile at their end, they have different packet types for stable/web and game/burst.

BT are also trialling a new ADSL service which is 1/2mbps but has a longer range (12km) (was on bbc site today)

Tried calling them numerous times, im sick of being refered to as Mr Shane by Abdul from India, the few times I have got through to speak to an English guy in the UK I was totally pissed off by then and sick of listening to them say "are you sure your using the orange cat5 cable"

I have 0 tolarence for call centres, and no James no Cable.

Forgot to say hello all btw :c)

I'm in the same boat. Although I'm meant to have a maximum connection of 256k I manage to get 1.7mb somehow. Everytime I called up when they were setting things up they were suprised I was connecting as fast as I am. Every site says it's unavailable at this speed in my area. Don't ask my how.

I'm with Nildram and want to change to someone cheaper but I'm scared to do so incase I lose the speed

My internet slowed down so much that it hit 0kbs. So we stopped our Direct Debit! Tiscali can stick a rusty screwdriver up their arses for all I care!

Tempted to go to BT... What do you guys think? Can't get cable here either (Central London!)
